A brand new mall will open on pay day this month giving a welcome financial boost for the area of Croydon.
Sanbury Square, located on the corner of Old Faure Road and Baden Powell Drive, will open its doors next week Thursday, 25 February, with 40 shops and five-a-side football fields.
The centre manager, Hennie van Wyk, said the new mall will be a secure location along with safe parking and plenty of new services for the community.
“The new mall will offer something for everybody by bringing shops such as Pick n Pay, Clicks, Visfabriek and the Fives Futbol to the community.”
Pick n Pay will serve as the anchor tenant for the 6705 square metre centre and a plan has been made to ensure that local mense are employed.
“We have also encouraged the stores to hire people from the neighbouring areas. Although it is something that we cannot impose upon them, but that is the intention,” said Van Wyk.
“From what we have seen, most of the stores have already kept to this instruction and once the centre is opened we will conduct a study to check that local people are hired and arrangements will be made.”
The mall, owned by Griffin Holdings, is situated close to a few wine farms, including the Spier Wine Estate.
“Sanbury Square will be a mall for everybody and not only focused on a certain income group,” said Van Wyk.
“Anybody that visits the centre will experience an aspirational shopping experience due to the design while there will be something for everybody.”
The mall will be open seven days a week, from 8am and closing in accordance to lockdown regulations.
