Forest Heights Primary schoolgirls were treated to a pampering and motivation day organised by Drama Community (DC), a feeding scheme in the Eerste River area.
DC is run by resident Yentl Bosman, 29, who says she fell in love with the pupils when she once facilitated at the school.
“DC is a group that enlightens teenage girls and boys on social issues they are facing. We help to grow and develop the schoolkids personally and emotionally,” she says.
“Our aim is to help where we see the need - be it doing a feeding scheme, pamper parties, facilitation and doing educational theatre shows for schools in and around the Western Cape.”
Yentl and her team, in partnership with school principal Anthea Bosman, identified 15 female pupils who needed intervention.
Yentl says: “The girls were selected based on various reasons and equipped to learn to tackle self-worth, bullying [and] hygiene.
“The girls needed the boost of confidence and self-esteem.
“They suffer from self-esteem issues and are usually picked on. Some of these girls openly said they have anger issues and bully others because of a lack of self-esteem.
“The girls had their nails done, made vision boards and enjoyed a meal.”
The nail treatments were provided by Urban Beauty and Kimchemistry, and Spur supplied the dite.
Palie Bosman says: “ Never before has the school had such an amazing initiative.
“We will definitely invite Drama Community back, Yentl really got through to them and after the session, they couldn’t wait to take selfies with her.
“The parents were impressed that the school took this route to help their daughters with their personal growth.
“The girls wouldn’t stop talking about their vision board and the great ideas Yentl gave them to reach their dreams.”
