An elections campaign video for Bonteheuwel ward councillor candidate Angus McKenzie has backfired on social media.
In a bid to get people to vote for him, McKenzie launched his campaign on Sunday by sharing the video on digital platforms with the caption “Enjoy”.
But when it landed on Twitter, comedian Chester Missing ripped the 98-second clip.
In the video, with the Ghostbusters theme song, a skollie is seen hiding a gun while waiting behind a wall, a woman tries to pour tap water into a glass, but the water has been cut, while a man pooing on the toilet realises that there is no water when he tries to flush.
A woman calls for help on her cell, and when the lyrics go “Who you gonna call?” residents chant, “Call Angus!”
It then shows a skollie randomly shooting at people and an elderly man, hit by a bullet, falls to the ground, dead.
“Superhero” McKenzie then strides in to save the day, tossing a yellow ANC T-shirt over his shoulder.
The ward councillor explains that the clip, created by Nadeem Parker Productions, was supposed to portray him as the saviour of Bontas.
“The concept of the video is that if anything goes wrong in my ward, whether it is service delivery or crime-related, they call Angus,” he tells the Daily Voice.
“I have seen the Chester Missing reaction to the ad, and that was found no wonder he is missing.
“I see that my ad campaign has had more than 40 000 views on Twitter.”

Conrad Koch, the puppet master behind the irreverent poppentjie, comments: “The election time’s here, the politicians are getting desperate, the DA doesn’t know why it’s losing.
“Of course losing against the ANC is politically very embarrassing, because you don’t need to be in the opposition to win against the ANC, the ANC is a bigger opposition against the ANC itself than anybody else.
“Now the DA is making weird freaking videos in Cape Town.”
He described the video as “confusing”, saying he didn’t know what McKenzie’s message was.

James Ehrenreich tweeted: “Is he not the current ward councillor? All that sh!t happens under his watch...”
While Lesley Adams-Ketile said: “Jy kan mosi die k@k ani mense wil afsmee ni.”
Rameez Fredericks said: “If you guys were looking for the water that the DA switched off ... ask that bra what Angus hit in the bek...”
