Popular Cape Town DJ Luwayne Wonder needs help raising money to get his sick wife home.
The couple, who lived in Plumstead, moved to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates five years ago to explore new career opportunities.
The desperate Good Hope FM DJ, whose real name is Luwayne Bouwers, 36, took to Facebook on Thursday night to make the appeal in a heartfelt eight-minute long video.
“I’m reaching out to you because my family and I desperately need your help,” he said.
He said on 5 October, two weeks after the couple welcomed their third daughter, his wife Crystal, 37, suffered a ruptured artery in her brain and went into a coma.
They have two other daughters, aged three and seven.
“I’m begging for help,” Bouwers said in the video.
“I need to send Crystal home as soon as possible because she needs rehabilitation.
“She’s paralysed on her right side, she can’t speak.
“The times that I visit her, she only has one eye open.
“I know she can see me because she lifts up her left hand and acknowledges me.”

After the brain haemorrhage and undergoing brain surgery, Crystal is in need of rehabilitation and physical therapy to begin the journey of healing at Tygerberg Hospital, but needs to be airlifted home.
But for this, the family needs R500 000.
Luwayne says it’s been a tough journey as he has to take care of his three children, Gianna, seven, Mila, three, and baby Alaïa, who was born on 21 September.
He says their older daughters haven’t seen their mom since she became ill.
“I question each and every day how they are able to be this way and the only thing that really comes to mind is, and it’s a silly analogy to make, but to paint you a picture, out of sight out of mind,” he said in the video.
He says they have medical insurance in Dubai which has covered Crystal’s hospital care, while their friends over there have also assisted him.
“I need to send my wife back home to South Africa to Cape Town. Two days ago I was given a bill, a quotation, from the company that’s going to be transporting my wife back home to Tygerberg Hospital. I got a quote of 60 000 dirhams. I can’t pay that.”
Friends in Cape Town are raising funds for the family.
