Cape Town rappers are gearing up for the much-hyped Hip Hop React event on Saturday.
Hip Hop React, an initiative started during lockdown in June 2020 by hip hop Influencer Rikki Remo, has become an internet hit amongst musicians and hip hop music lovers in the local scene.
Rikki Remo, 34, from Rondebosch, started the show to showcase the local talent and to help artists master their craft - from the music, beats and registering as an artist to how to market yourself as an artist and lessons in directing music videos.
“The aim is to showcase a different side to hip hop. We want to unpack what it’s all about and also tell people that it’s not all about money, the girls, the cars,” Rikki says.
“We want to show that hip hop is a lifestyle, where they help their communities and talk about poverty, the struggles, the good times and the bad through music.
“All this while displaying peace, love, respect and unity.”
Hip Hop React team will be hosting their first Park Jam on Saturday from 10am to 3pm at Morgenster Shopping Centre in Mitchells Plain.
The show will be hosted by Rikki Remo and boasts artists such as Craiig’O, King Smasher, King Easy, KCL, Knine Die Hond, Eazi Frank, Khoisan Plasterz, Flow Of Xposure and many more.
The dad of two says rappers and hip hop artists who would like to step up and bust a few kwaai rhymes, can rock up at the event and add their name to the list for the cypher session.
