Katlego Maboe supporters are on a mission to get the embattled TV star back on air.
Members of the “We Support Katlego” Facebook group said they are planning protests to support the presenter who has been suspended from the Expresso Morning Show and had his Outsurance’s TV ads removed.
Facebook fans have even designed black #Katisback T-shirts and caps, which are for sale for R100 and R70 respectively.
The group says they will be sharing details of their protest once they have obtained permission to demonstrate.
Kat has been in the dog box since a video emerged recently in which his ex-girlfriend Monique Muller outed him for cheating on her and giving her a STD.
Katlego, 34, admits to having slept with Nikita Murray – a former Outsurance employee – in the viral clip.
He was set to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates' Court this week for allegedly breaching a protection order taken out by Monique, who accuses him of physically attacking her.
But the court matter did not proceed as the state prosecutor revealed that she only found out about the case after reading about it in the news.
Fans are standing by the disgraced star and are planning to protest against his removal from Expresso and Outsurance.
Elrise Daniels posted: “Unfortunately we can’t attend the march due to work but we will wear the T-shirt, we are supporting him 100%, we are upset about this whole situation.
“We will wear our T-shirt on the day and be there in spirit.”
Founder of "We Support Katlego", Marc Isaacs, says they are not giving up on the TV host.
“It has much to do with our basic human right to personal privacy. If we allow people to act against you as a result of a problem you have in a relationship, it will continue into marriages and eventually into your children’s lives,” he says.
“The incident with Katlego highlights the societal breakdown by major corporations and the government on basic human privacy; especially with the dawn of 5G that has the power to access your entire life.
“Government recently announced that they want to trace citizens from birth, this restricts how basic the right to move freely is.
“So yes, this is bigger than what is happening to Katlego.
"But, it’s a catalyst to making sure our basic rights are not infringed upon.”
