Cape Flats aunty Abidah Dixon Mohamed is part of a brand-new drama called Witsand.
Abidah, from Elsies River, is no stranger to the Cape Town TV screens but is aiming even higher despite having no formal qualifications in drama and acting.
Her latest role is that of Tietie Ous, the neighbourhood skinnerbek and mother to all.
Tietie Ous, thought because she gave Meire some attention. She can get more juicy info, but Meire sets the record...

Sy ken almal se besigheid but loves adding her own stertjies so take her with a pinch of salt.
Witsand is an Afrikaans drama series set in Cape Town and the brainchild of Brad Roman.
The story follows the lives of a group of homeless people and their daily struggles as they try to survive in Witsand.
The show addresses issues ranging from homelessness, homophobia and drugs to mental illness.
Abidah, 52, wants to normalise the sight of a hijab in the entertainment industry.
“I’m hoping to get myself into kykNET as the first fully covered Muslim female presenter of a talk show or cooking show,” she says.
In 2008, she started presenting an Afrikaans TV talk show for six years called In Gesprek met Abidah at Cape Town TV, where she interviewed the likes of Tracey Lange, Kim Cloete, Kia Johnson and Emo Adams among others.
The mother of five and grandmother to seven says she’s invested a lot in her acting career.
“In 2012, I decided that I wanted to do more than just TV presenting. I did a six-month acting course at ACT in Cape Town.
“After that I completed another three-month acting course at Emo's All Star Theatre in Brackenfell by Theodore Jantjies.
“This year I started with more acting classes by Jill Levenberg and a four-week acting course at the Salt River community hall.”
