Two local businessmen, who two months ago offered to assist underprivileged pupils with their matric balls, are hosting a fundraiser at AZ Berman High School in Mitchells Plain this weekend.
After the Daily Voice published the story of AllWheels CEO Fawwaz Mowlana, 25, and his partner Rodger Abrahams and how they are kitting out kids for their matric balls, several high schools in the community contacted the dream team to find out if they could help.
Known as Cape Town’s Fairy Godmother Team, the guys have now organised a fundraiser to try and help as many kids at the school as they can.
On Saturday, they will be hosting a carwash, a hair salon for a wash & blow, or you can get your nails done.
And all of this for just R80. Plus the first 200 visitors get a free boerewors roll, too.
It will be a true family affair with a play area for kids, and various types of stalls.
Anyone wishing to have a stall, will pay R100 for the entire day.
“The idea of assisting a matric class of 74 pupils is massive to us and we hope to impact their lives positively with what we are all about to do,” Fawwaz says.
“We are working hard behind the scenes and believe this fundraiser will be a success.
“All we need is the backing of the community.”
So get to AZ Berman High School, on the corner of AZ Berman Drive and Spine Road in Mitchells Plain on Saturday, from 8.30am - 2pm.
