A Bonteheuwel barber is offering free Christmas haircuts to boys and elderly men who can’t afford it.
Craig Kok, 23, is an award- winning barber at the Widow Maker salon in Long Street, and also runs his own barbershop from his Kiaat Road home.
He is also Youngsta’s personal barber and is known for his kwaai haircutting skills.
Craig started his barber shop in 2017 in his mom’s garage and now services over 50 clients a week.
He has over 2 000 followers on Facebook and Instagram where he does live videos of his styling.
Craig even fetches his clients in Bontas, and offers free cuts to boys before school starts.
He says because it’s school holidays, all the boys are opting for cool faders, which are not allowed at school.

This being the week before Christmas, he’s been especially busy, cutting up to 15 heads every night, he says.
“I ask the children’s parents if I can treat them to a free cut, just in time to look fresh for Christmas,” he says.
“These parents can’t afford to give them a barber experience and they are the kids who usually hang around outside my barbershop to do an odd job for a free cut.”
Craig gets home from work around 6pm and starts his “second job” at 6.30pm.
“I offer to collect and drop them off at home and it’s rewarding to see their smiles and joy after a lekker treat.”
Kayon Williams, 12, says he is opgemaak with his fader.
“We soema cut our hair at home. It’s lekker getting a haircut from Craig and now I can also say Youngsta’s private barber cut my hair already.”
