This tiny Mitchells Plain dancer has her sights set on competing in the Global Dance Supreme Competition in Randburg but needs a little help to reach her goal.
Hip hop dancer Gabrielle Jacobs, 12, is part of a crew called Dynamite.
The Grade 7 Montague Drive Primary School pupil did ballet before discovering a passion for hip hop in 2016 and has since been dancing her way to stardom.
Her crew forms part of the Youth Development Academy in Mitchells Plain.
Gabrielle has dreams of representing SA on the international stage and is aiming to qualify for a competition in Croatia next May.
“I feel excited and privileged to be able to live my dreams and compete. My dream is to become a choreographer,” the bubbly meisie says.
“Dance has taught me discipline and I’ve made so many new friends. Hip hop is my passion and I want to be able to compete internationally next year.
“My role model is my dance teacher and choreographer, Kim Cassels.”
Her mom Nicolette Smith Jacobs, says Gabrielle’s little sister Micah, seven, is also a dancer.

“They battle each other in the lounge and Micah looks up to her sister, they trade moves too.
“I am proud of my daughter’s achievements thus far.
“God has blessed her with the gift of dance and my prayer is that it inspires other kids to live their dreams and dance fearlessly.”
But the mom says talent needs investment and raising funds has become a priority.
Gabrielle needs R15 000 to make her trip to Randburg possible and the family has already raised R2 500.
The competition takes place on 26-29 September.
If you would like to assist, call Nicolette on 083 200 4768.
