Two men were shot and killed in Beacon Valley, Mitchells Plain yesterday morning and police are searching for information regarding the murders.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said: “Police are investigating a double murder case after a shooting incident on Wednesday at 5.20am in Hengelaar Street where two men, aged 21 and 48, was shot and fatally wounded.”
He said no arrests have been made, but police did not rule out that the shooting could be gang-related.
Neighbours say that the shooting made them too bang to look outside and that the bodies were still lying on the ground hours after the incident occurred.
A few people spoke to the Daily Voice at the crime scene, but they were all too scared to give their names for fear of retaliation from local gangsters.
One female resident, who stays down the road from the scene, said: “There were more than 20 shots, it woke me and my husband up.
“He wanted to go outside to see what was going on, but I stopped him.
“I could even hear the footsteps of people running away. It was seker the shooters, but there was no way that I was going to look outside.
“When we left for work after 9am the bodies were still there.”
Several residents said that the victims lived in the area yet their names could not be confirmed.
A 34-year-old man said: “The younger guy was shot in the face and the older one had a klomp shots to his body. They were shot while they were walking down the road.”
