Thousands of mourners are expected to descend on Elsies River on Saturday to say farewell to slain eight-year-old Tazne van Wyk.
A mass funeral including a march has been planned as the hartseer family lays the young girl who was kidnapped and murdered to rest.
Funeral organiser, Joe Hendricks of Joe 4 Funerals, says along with Silverleaf Undertakers and the City of Cape Town, they have sponsored the burial.
“There will be a procession from Avonwood Spar at 9am where there will be marching bands, cadets and bikers as the procession moves to VGK church on the corner of 34th Avenue and Halt Road in Elsies River,” Hendricks explains.
He says various sponsors have come on board to supply catering, chairs as they are preparing for 5000 people.
“The seating at the church allows for 3000 people but we are expecting about 5000 people on the day.
“The City will help with the marquees, speakers and the big screens. Many sponsors have come out to assist the family.”
He says Tazne’s family will host a private viewing before the funeral.
