Another alleged Bonteheuwel skollie has been killed amid an ongoing turf war between rival gangs.
Shortly after 6pm on Sunday, a 20-year-old man was shot several times in Date Palm Street and died on the scene.
Ward councillor, Angus Mckenzie, says he was called to the scene shortly after the incident where he was informed that the man was a member of a local gang.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, says cops arrived on the scene to find the body of a 20-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his body lying in the street.
“The victim died due to his injuries. No one has been arrested so far.”
Mckenzie says in recent weeks Bonteheuwel residents have been caught in the crossfire of fights between the Junky Funkys, Fancy Boys and the Hard Livings gangs.
In the last week, three men have been killed in the area, one of them an innocent dad of two who was shot while waiting for his girlfriend in Dissell Road.
Rushin Arendse, 36, was gunned down on Friday, 16 February shortly after 10pm and died on the scene.
This was followed by another murder on the same street on Tuesday of an alleged skollie, aged 52.
“Bonteheuwel people are being caught in the middle, but they are not keeping quiet,” says Mckenzie.
“We are seeing a lot of people coming out to speak out against the skollies and that is how we will resolve this issue. There is a big fight about drug turf, but we continue engaging police with information so all these varke can get caught.”
