Meet Snookie, the one-year-old goat who believes she is a dog.
For nearly a year, the bokkie has been living with Rezhar Nolan, 41, and his family in Rocklands, Mitchells Plain.
Snookie was adopted by the family when she was 10 months old after following Rezhar around at his friend’s farm in Schaapkraal.
Today, Snookie enjoys walks on the beach with the family’s other pet, a German Shepherd named Aylah.
And, just like Aylah, the bokkie is on a leash.
And according to Rezhar, his tiny horned pet has tossed aside her veggies in favour of Montego dog food.
She also sleeps inside a kennel with Aylah and knocks her head against the back door to get the attention of the humans inside.
This family clearly love their pets, which includes a stray cat they adopted, named Sophia, and a tank filled with 30 colourful fish.
DIK TJOMMIES: Family pets goat Snookie and dog, Aylah, get along like real brasse
Rezhar says he’s been a dog lover since he was a little boy, but when Snookie started following him around on his friend’s farm, she stole his heart and they’ve now become inseparable.
“I was at my friend’s farm in Schaapkraal and she just came walking up to me.
“I decided I am taking her home. Snookie was 10 months old at the time.”
Rezhar is married and has three daughters, an 11-year-old and nine-year-old twins, and says they all pitch in to help with the pets.
After bringing Snookie home, he set about educating himself on raising a goat.
“She is now one year and six months old,” explains Rezhar.
“When I brought her home, she immediately bonded with Aylah and my children.
OULIK: Snookie has stolen the hearts of her owners
“She was raised wearing kimbies and drank four bottles of buttermilk and skim milk every day.
“I did research on how to feed her. Then we began placing her on greens.”
But it appears Snookie developed a taste for Aylah’s dite and now eats nothing else.
Rezhar says when he prepares Aylah for a walk on the beach, Snookie “begs” to tag along.
“Like on Sunday, she was banging on the door when she saw me being busy with Aylah’s leash. We take her with and people often stop and look at her,” he says.
She’s also not scared to “wys her tanne” to other dogs, often charging at them like she wants to start a fight.
Rezhar says Snookie is well loved and very feisty.
“She thinks she’s a dog and is very persistent when she wants something.”
