Two men from Bonteheuwel died and four others were injured after the car they were travelling in rolled on the N1 highway near Worcester.
According to reports their bakkie flipped at De Doorns and rolled several times before stopping.
The men had been in Worcester for an ijtima (a spiritual getaway for Muslim men).
Ebrahim Adams, 26, and Shuaib Brown, 41, both died on the scene while four other passengers were transported to Worcester hospital in ambulances.
The Bonteheuwel residents were heading back home and the
incident happened just before
3am on Tuesday.
It is believed the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Erefaan Hendricks, Waleed Rhoman, Shamiel Jaggers and a man only identified as Sharief are all recovering in hospital.
The men are not related.

The Daily Voice spoke to a cousin of Shuaib’s on Tuesday afternoon, who said they were busy preparing for his janazah which was set to take place at 5pm.
“The bodies were to be washed and wrapped traditionally at the Worcester mosque and then transported for burial here in Bonteheuwel,” he explained.
“It is a very emotional time for us, but we will have to still hear what actually happened.”
He said Adams and Brown were seated at the back of the bakkie, and he didn’t know who was the driver.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant George Mjiwu, confirmed the incident and said: “A case of culpable homicide is under investigation following the death of two passengers, aged 26 and 41, and four injured after the accident occurred on the N1 near De Doorns at 2.37am.”
