A Bonteheuwel teen was nabbed with a gun in his possession after residents piemped him to police.
The 17-year-old boy was arrested by wakker members of Law Enforcement when he acted
suspiciously.
He is allegedly a member of the Junky Funky Kids and will appear in court once charged.
Ward councillor Angus McKenzie commended the patrols and said the visibility of the officers is helping make Bonteheuwel a safer place.
“The team’s consistent walking patrols, visibility and relationship with the community has ensured that this individual will no longer terrorise residents of Bonteheuwel.
“He was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and various rounds of illegal ammunition.
“It is believed that the boy is part of the JFK gang. Bonteheuwel has months ago decided we will no longer harbour gangsters and their actions,” McKenzie said.
BUST: Bontas ‘skollie’
Meanwhile, an alleged leader of the JFK gang was shot and killed on Saturday night in Bontas while his girlfriend, 20, is still critical in hospital.
Just after 11pm, the 30-year-old and his meisie were headed to his home when two suspects pulled up in a white vehicle, got out and started shooting at them on the corner of Firethorn and Geelhout streets.
The man sustained a bullet wound to his forehead, dying instantly while his girlfriend was shot in her right shoulder.
The suspects fled the scene.
The JFKs are currently in a turf war with the Hard Livings (HL) gang.
