The family of a missing mother from Delft is appealing for help after she disappeared more than a YEAR ago.
The seven children of Shannaz Buffkins, 39, spent a sad Mother’s Day posting messages of hope on Facebook.
At the time of her disappearance in March 2020, she lived with her older daughters in Delft South.
She went to visit her sister Zainunesa Buffkins in Bonteheuwel and was never seen again.
Zainunesa says they knew her sister was caught up in drugs but never thought she would abandon her kids.
“It is unlike her to go for this long. She would go somewhere and return home to her kids every now and then.
“We hope she is fine and would get the message and return home," says Zainunesa.
The two older siblings live in Delft while the five minors are in foster care.
"We have looked for her everywhere, with no luck. We miss her so much it is heartbreaking.
“We are struggling without her, nobody is working here.
“Last year we even kept her a chocolate and a drink on Mother's Day hoping she would return and celebrate with us, but she never did,” says daughter, Nagielah Buffkins.
This year the siblings took to Facebook appealing for help in finding their mom.
Police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk confirms a missing person enquiry was registered: “The search to locate the missing person is ongoing.”
