AN ALLEGED gang dik ding was gunned in broad daylight in Grassy Park on Saturday as his rival was laid to rest just metres away.
The shocking shooting of one of the leaders of the Six Bobs gang sent tongues wagging that the man known as Tessie was killed as his alleged rival Timothy "Tamatie" Jaftha was buried in the nearby Klip Road Cemetery.
Videos of the dramatic crime scene went viral on social media as one user celebrated Tessie's death as he lay face down in a pool of his own blood.
According to a Daily Voice source, he was followed into Grassy Park and killed by a gunman who pounced from a silver VW Polo parked nearby.
The insider says: "Tamatie's funeral was held at Klip Road [Cemetery] and it wasn't long after he was buried this shooting happened.
"Tessie came into Grassy Park from the M5 and must have been followed by that car. That driver parked at the slipway and he [Tessie] was at the robot. The shooter got out and fired shots at the passenger side of the white bakkie."
The source says in an attempt to flee, the man known for running a pella pos in Dove Road jumped from his vehicle and collapsed in the road.
The source adds: "He jumped out and the car went forward and crashed into KFC. It appears the gunman walked up to him and finished him off because there were multiple shots in his back."
In the video taken at the scene, a man is heard saying: "Allah is great in the month of Ramadaan. This is Taswell Six Bob laying here...very big Six Bob in our area".
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed the shooting.
He reports: "Grassy Park police registered a murder following a shooting incident at about 1.40pm at the corners of Klip Road and Victoria Road, Grassy Park, where a 51-year-old man was shot and fatally wounded.
"According to reports, SAPS members attended to a crime scene at above mentioned address. Upon their arrival, they found the deceased with several gun shot wounds to the upper body. Circumstances surrounding this shooting incident are under investigation. Motive is believed to be gang related"
He confirms that later in the day cops busted a 29-year-old suspect who is set to appear in Wynberg Magistrates Court on murder charges soon.
Sources confirm that Tessie and Tamatie were rivals but it is unclear if the suspect who was arrested was a member of the Americans gang.
Tamatie who was gunned down on 21 February while sitting in his vehicle outside his home in Willow Road. It is understood that cops zoned in on three members of the Six Bobs gang amid claims that they were behind Tamatie’s death.
