A Mitchells Plain man has been gunned down outside a local pub in Westridge.
Devon Okkers, 34, sustained three fatal shots to the head on Tuesday evening.
He was declared dead on the scene after paramedics tried to resuscitate him.
His aunt says she heard multiple gunshots that night.
“When I heard the gunshots, I could feel someone I knew was shot.
“I just felt it in my spirit and started praying and a neighbour called me and told me that my nephew Georgie, as he was known, had been shot.
“I understand that a White VW Golf with two occupants drove to where he was and shot him from behind.
“I don’t know why he was shot because he was not a gangster, he would never harm anyone, he never carried a gun or knife.
“He has been in prison, but he never killed anyone.”
She tells the Daily Voice that Devon would hang outside the pub and wash people’s cars.
“I last spoke to him around 5pm when he was walking towards the shops and he was still smiling and waving at me and then a few hours later I heard the gunshots.”
SAPS’ André Traut says no one has been arrested.
“At around 7.30pm a man was shot and killed on the corner of Amandel and Dagbreek Streets in Westridge by an unknown suspect.”
