A new gang named after a Hollywood movie is believed to be behind the shooting of two young men in New Woodlands, Mitchells Plain, in which one died after crashing their vehicle into a wall.
Qiyaam “Toyboy” Frieslar, 29, was found dead inside a Kia Sportage along Hans Aschenborn Street on Sunday just after 7.30am.
A male passenger who was shot in the leg was rushed to hospital for treatment.
Cops say Frieslar had been shot and lost control of the SUV in Katrina Harris Street, before crashing into the front yard wall of a house in Hans Aschenborn Street.

The owners of the property were too frightened to speak, fearing the incident was gang-related.
Qiyaam’s family also refused to comment.
Cops have since arrested three men between the ages of 22 and 25 for the shooting.
Meanwhile friends and family of Qiyaam shared his photograph and condolences on his Facebook account.
On Monday, community policing forum structures revealed that a turf war is brewing between Dixie Boys and the newly formed “Inglourious Basterds”.
According to a police source, the leader of the Inglourious Basterds told cops that the gang had been named after the movie directed by Quentin Tarantino and starring Brad Pitt, which tells of a plot to assassinate Nazi leaders in France.
Byron de Villiers of the Lentegeur Community Policing Forum confirms the incident is
gang-related.
“This is between the IGB (Inglourious Basterds) and the Dixie Boys,” he tells the Daily Voice.
“The fight is over turf. Fortunately no one at the residence was wounded.
“The scene was littered with spent cartridges.
“When the police took the leader of the IGB in for questioning for a shooting, he said the gang was named after that movie.”

Police spokesperson Mihali Majikela says three people have been arrested for murder and attempted murder: “According to reports, the deceased, a 29-year-old male, was driving along with other passengers in Katrina Harris Street, New Woodlands, Lentegeur, when shots were fired in their direction.
“The deceased sustained gunshot wounds before crashing the vehicle into a wall in Hans Aschenborn Street.
“He succumbed as a result of his injuries.
“One of the passengers inside the vehicle sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to a nearby medical facility.
“Three suspects, aged between 22 and 25, were arrested and are expected to appear at the Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ Court soon on the mentioned charges.”
