A young man who was celebrating his birthday on Saturday night was stabbed in his heart.
Lonwabo Jack, 22, was out with his friends the whole night and the following day his body was found on the pavement of Pula Road in Mau Mau, Nyanga.
His hartseer family is now trying to find out whether he was killed for his sexual orientation or a random murder.
Monwabisi Jack, 57, says his nephew, who was gay, was last seen with his friends on Saturday evening.
“He was celebrating his birthday and he went with his friends to Mau Mau.
“We don’t know what happened to him because when we got to the scene none of his friends were there.”
The uncle says he received the news about Lonwabo yesterday around 8am.
“My niece phoned me to break the news and at the time I was in my house in Lower Crossroads.
“I rushed to the scene and I saw his body laying on the pavement and he was covered with a blanket.
“I saw that he was stabbed right in the heart, like the killer was trying to silence him.
“What has confused us as the family is whether he was killed because he was gay or not, because nothing was taken from him.”
When the Daily Voice spoke to Monwabisi he said he will not stop until he finds the truth.
“Lonwabo didn’t deserve to die like that, he was such a nice man who was down to earth.
“He was not violent, he was a vibrant m*ffie who loved fun and church.”
SAPS’ André Traut says the murder is being investigated with no arrests made yet.
