A heartbroken mother from Happy Valley wants answers after her son was killed in cold blood.
Sangolomzi “Boots” Bulana, 23, was shot seven times in the head in the early hours of Sunday in Bluebell Crescent.
His mom Sisanda says: “They came and woke me up at 5.20 on Sunday morning to say that my son was shot. I don’t have any details about the incident, I’m also sitting with questions.
“As a parent I’m heartbroken but I can’t bring my child back. I’m still questioning why a person must kill a child like that.”
Sisanda adds that Boots always tried to resolve any issues he had with mense.
“Why couldn’t they address the matter or resolve it? He is someone who comes back [to say sorry] if he did you wrong,” the devastated mom told the Daily Voice.
Police spokesperson Anelisiwe Manyana confirmed the deadly shooting, and that Mfuleni SAPS are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“According to reports, the police attended the scene where they found the body of the victim with gunshot wounds to the head.
“The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel,” Manyana said.
“The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. The motive of the attack forms part of the police investigation.”
Sisanda adds that Boots was an avid rugby player and not involved in any criminal activities and had a lot of respect for people.
“He was a lovely child, you can ask anyone in this community. He was so respectful, he grew up here in Happy Valley. He was playing rugby for a club in Pinelands,” she added.
