Following a public outcry on social media over the political affiliations of the candidates running for their leadership, the Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) announced that the current leaders have all retained their positions following a vote.
Sheikh Irafaan Abrahams was re-elected and stays as MJC president until 2026, while Moulana Abdul Khaliq Allie retains the position of First Deputy President, and Sheikh Riad Fataar remains the Second Deputy President.
The Secretary General position is also unchanged with Sheikh Zaid Dante reelected.
