A four-year-old child watched as a gunman walked into their yard and shot his mom three times in the head.
Abigail Saal, 23, was sitting with friends and family when the killer walked into the Baris Way home in Clarke Estate on Friday night.
A family member, who asked not to be named, says: “The man came into the yard while another man stood in the road.
“When Abigail stood up, she said ‘it’s you again’ and he shot her in the head.
“And then she fell, he walked out of the yard and then came back a few seconds later and fired again.
“I guess he had to make sure that she was really dead.
“The children watched in horror as blood oozed out of her head.”
The man says gunshots are an everyday occurrence in the area.
“They shoot the whole time here and we now know what a gunshot sounds like,” says the relative.
“But this time it was not so loud, it was like they used a silencer.”
Abigail’s family says she lived for her little boy.
“They were always together, she did everything for her child.
“We are all surprised that he has not asked for her.
“I heard him tell someone that his mom is dead and that was the last time he spoke about her.
“The suspect didn’t even care that her child was there.”
Police spokeswoman Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana says Abigail was declared dead on the scene.
“It is reported that she was shot by two unidentified suspects who are yet to be arrested,” she says.
Police are appealing to anyone with more information that can assist with the matter to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
