A Pastor is feeding two arme families each day, blessing them with shopping hampers, masks and prayers of encouragement.
Pastor Ivan Jones and his wife Pastor Bronwyn of the NPO, Revelation Ministries and Rise Up programme, are on a mission to deliver food hampers as well as masks to destitute families in Lavender Hill.
The hampers which include tinned foods, rice, milk, sugar, three loaves of bread, toiletries and maize meal, eggs and hoender nekkies.
The handovers are made possible through the donations of generous friends and family.
And on Monday yesterday Pastor Jones was at it again, delivering food to a family in Lavender Hill.
He says despite the lockdown, he will continue to feed those in need and has a permit to be out.
AID: Food parcels for Lavender Hill family
“So far I have fed close to 10 families since the lockdown was set and this was thanks to donations from friends and family who gave a R50 or R100,” he adds.
“I make up a food hamper which includes items like maize meal, tinned foods, rice, eggs, three loaves of bread, toilet paper, etc.”
“‘This will give them three meals a day for three days.
“I want to feed families each day until the lockdown is over.”
He adds due to poverty, many families are unable to purchase gloves or masks and are not educated.
“These families have to worry about the next meal and many do not have money for masks and gloves,” he says.
He also gives them words of encouragement: “I have asked them to pray with me, that God will carry them through this.”
Lavender Hill ouma, Ellen April, 65, says: “ Ek is baie dankbaar, ek is ‘n pensioner, and I am thankful to God.”
