The feathers flew when this Plumstead man tried to enjoy a family feast last Friday.
Paul Newman says what was supposed to be a lekker dinner with friends was not finger lickin’ good at all after they bought chicken from the KFC in Plumstead.
The family ordered two All in One Plus meals totalling R259.80, but as they were about to dig in, they say they found feathers and fat on the raw pieces of chicken.
Paul says the worst part was when he tried to return the hoender, the manager tried to stry him af.
“That chicken was disgusting. It had feathers and a lot of fat,” he fumes.
“Some pieces were not well cooked. I had no choice but to return it.
“It was raining so I phoned the store and spoke to this guy.
“He did not want to hear it and argued with me.
“I had to drive back to that KFC, and the guy was not interested until he saw for himself and apologised.
“I had a replacement but everything was already spoiled, some did not want it anymore.
“What a waste! It is not the first time I had such an experience at that store, sometimes when I buy eight pieces, I get seven pieces. Their service is just bad.”
His wife Colleen Newman says: “I have never been so embarrassed in my life before, and in front of my friends.
“My husband had to leave our friends to drive back in the storm and sort it out.
“It is not about the chicken, but the bad service.
“We always have problems and we have had enough. We’re not going back there again.
“We’d rather drive a little bit further and get what we paid for than such disappointment.”
Noxolo Skeyi, one of the store managers at KFC Plumstead who was on duty on Monday says she is aware of the issue.
“I left the store at around 7pm (on Friday) and yes I did hear one of the managers arguing on the phone but I did not pay attention to it,” she says.
“I’ll follow up and deal with the problem from the root. Staff have no right to argue with the customers and we would like to apologise to the customer.
“When we get such complaints, orders have to be replaced and the customer treated fairly.”
