A Piketberg family is grieving after a fatal stabbing incident involving two broers.
The dispute that led to the murder was reportedly over geld and the boeta has been arrested and appeared in court earlier this week.
It was around 4.40am on Sunday morning when Heinrich Adams woke up and allegedly stabbed Mornay to death in his sleep.
According to a relative, the deceased had received money from his previous employer and also had received money from the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF).
The family member says: “The victim, who was also a prophet, was working on a farm Lac du Soleil and got his bonus after the season had ended and also got his UIF.”
The relative added the brothers were close at some stage.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said Piketberg detectives registered a murder case for investigation following a stabbing incident on Sunday, 16 March in Starking Street, where a 24-year-old male was fatally stabbed.
He reports: “According to reports the victim and the suspect had an argument before he was stabbed.
“Police members attended the crime scene where they found the victim with several stab wounds to his body. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation.
“We can confirm that a 32-year-old male was arrested on Sunday evening, in connection with the murder and appeared in the Piketberg Magistrates Court on 18 March on a charge of murder. The investigation into the matter continues.”
