A Mitchells Plain mother is furious after her seven-year-old son was sexually assaulted and told to kill himself at school, allegedly by other classmates.
The 34-year-old mother of three says she was shocked when she heard what was happening at Liesbeeck Primary School in Portlands.
“He told my husband and my mother that his teacher sent a boy with him to the toilet,” the mother says.
“He said he used the toilet and the boy licked his private parts. This boy also placed my son’s penis in his mouth.
“Two days later, that same boy and three others then dunked my son’s head into the toilet.
“They peed on him and told my son to commit suicide,” the angry mom says.
“This happened in the third term and it’s now the fourth term and we have still not seen the principal.
“I have been keeping my son home since then. He’s traumatised, he doesn’t sleep well and is afraid of going to the toilet.”
She says the only contact made was last Friday when the circuit manager called and spoke to her husband.
The boy is currently being seen by a clinical psychologist which his parents are paying for.
“I want those children to be disciplined and removed from school,” the mom added.
The Western Cape Education Departments (WCED) Director of Communications, Bronagh Hammond, says they are aware of the “extremely sensitive case”.
“It is untrue that there has been no intervention or communication. Our circuit manager has spoken to the mom and the father on numerous occasions.
“The WCED social worker is set to meet with the school principal on Monday.”
