Robbers stabbed a mentally disabled teen to death on his birthday after he asked them to return his gift they stole from him.
The four men, who are now on the run, took 17-year-old Mikyle Bruiners’ chain he received as a present from his father.
The varke also stabbed and injured his uncle Charles Bruiners, 35, and his 33-year-old stepfather Ashwill Piet near his home in Parkwood on Saturday evening.
His grandma Anne Bruiners, 65, says Mikyle was trying to get to his uncle when he was stabbed in the chest.
“When he saw them later, he showed me who took the chain and I confronted them,” she explains.
“They were so rude and they didn’t want to give the chain back and I said I would call the police. Luckily a van drove by and when I was calling the officers, they ran away.
“One of them shouted that Mikyle would swim in his blood and at the time we didn’t know he meant by it.”
Anne adds that the cops told her they would call another van to assist with the case.
“While we were waiting for the police to come back, the suspects came all armed with knives.
“I called out for my son to come and help us. When he arrived, he told them to put the knives down and fight man to man.
“He tried to hit one of them and then he was stabbed in the arm.
“My son-in-law also tried to help, he was stabbed in the back and is in hospital.
“Mikyle was on his way to his uncle when he was attacked, he only had one wound which was open and deep.”
The devastated ouma says minutes later she watched Mikyle take his last breath.
“I saw him fall and quickly went to catch him and blood came out of his mouth and nose.
“I tried to close the wound with a plastic bag, he was alive for a few minutes, after that he passed on.”
One of the suspects’ fathers returned Mikyle’s silver chain, she said.
SAPS’ Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana says cases of murder and attempted murder have been opened.
“It is reported that the deceased was robbed earlier by the suspects who later came back and stabbed the victims,” she says.
“The circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation with no arrests at this stage.”
