A Delft community worker and school transport driver has been arrested for the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl.
Amien Fakier from Suburban appeared in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court and is currently in custody.
Fakier was the girl’s school driver and allegedly raped her on 19 and 20 February, before dropping her off at school.
Her devastated mother, 43, says they had trusted Fakier because they’ve known him for six years.
She says they thought her daughter would be safer with her alleged rapist than taking public transport.
SUSPECT: Amien Fakier of Delft is accused of rape.
“She started acting differently since he called here on 18 February, asking for her to be ready early as he had new children joining the transport,” she says.
“Several days after that, she started distancing herself from us, and jumping with fright whenever she saw Fakier.
“I still told her to take the transport on the 20th, not knowing it had already occurred.
“The day I found out, my daughter tried to commit suicide by taking of my chronic medication.
“She left a note saying she no longer wanted to dream, but to be by the stars and the moon.
“I asked her about the note and she told me Fakier raped her on 19 and 20 February.”
According to the mom, Fakier threatened her scared daughter to keep her quiet.
“He threatened her telling her no one would believe her because she’s a ou liegbek and that he works with police, so nothing will happen.”
SAPS’ Noloyiso Rwexana confirms Fakier was arrested on a charge of rape and appeared in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court on 9 March.
The suspect is back in court on Tuesday.
