Three Pep stores have been targeted by robbers in less than ONE week on the Cape Flats.
In all three incidents the skelms made off with money and cellphones.
In the latest incident on Tuesday, Pep in Victoria Road, Grassy Park was robbed around 9.45am.
According to eyewitnesses four men entered the shop pretending to be customers.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk says: “The robbers were armed and threatened workers. They took an undisclosed amount of cellphones and one cash register.
“The suspects fled the scene in a blue VW Polo.”
On Monday, the Pep store at the Shoprite Centre in New Horizons, Pelican Park, along Strandfontein Road was also robbed.
“A case of business robbery has been opened for investigation by Grassy Park police after a robbery was perpetrated by five suspects, two armed with firearms at a store in Pelican Park,” says Van Wyk.
Eyewitnesses said five men entered the shop around 12.30pm, and were seen running away at about 1pm.
Van Wyk adds: “According to reports the suspects threatened the employees and assaulted a security guard.
“They fled the scene with cellular telephones and an undisclosed amount of money.”
Van Wyk says the value of stolen property is yet to be determined.
On Friday, the Pep store in Retreat Road, Retreat was also targeted.
The armed skelms entered the store around 10.15am and threatened the staff.
“The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash and cellular telephones and fled the scene in a dark blue vehicle. No shots were fired at all these incidents.”
Police are now looking for the skelms and are investigating the possibility that the robberies are related.
