Police are investigating a triple murder after two men and one woman were shot and killed in Uitsig in the early hours of on Sunday morning.
Police say the incident happened just after 3am, as an apparent lone gunmen shot and killed the three execution-style in Escort Avenue.
One person was nabbed by police following the incident.
Uitsig spiritual leader, Pastor Adam Alexander, called on the community to break their silence and piemp the killers to cops.
“It is with great disappointment that I can confirm two men and a woman were killed execution-style in our community of Uitsig. We, as a community, see this and allow it. We, each in our own corner, are watching these killings and allowing them to happen,” he says.
“We, as a community, and our spiritual leaders, need to stand together to stop these killings before it goes any further.”
According to Alexander, the three were arriving home from a night out.
“It’s believed the shooter is a gangster, but the victims were innocent. It’s not clear why he attacked them,” he says.
SAPS’ Lieutenant-Colonel Andrè Traut confirms the shooting and the arrest of one suspect.
“This office can confirm that at around 4am on Sunday three persons, aged 28, 30 and 45, were shot and killed in Escort Ave, Uitsig, Ravensmead,” he says.
“The suspect, a 22-year-old male, was arrested yesterday morning and he is being detained in connection with the incident. The motive is unknown and the circumstances are being investigated.”
