Two people have been killed and a six-year-old child wounded in gunfire in Uitsig just minutes after each other this week. The youngest victim is a 17-year-old boy.
Police were called to Florida Street, Ravensmead after 5.25pm on Tuesday where they found the body of a 22-year-old man who lay with his legs crossed and with gunshot wounds to his hands and back.
Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, explains: “On arrival they found the 22-year-old victim lying on the road, crossed legs with gunshot wounds to his hand and back. The victim died on the scene due to the extent of his injuries.”
Twenty minutes later, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the head in Uitsig Avenue.
A six-year-old boy, who had been playing near the scene, was wounded in the left foot.
Van Wyk says cops have opened cases of murder and attempted murder for investigation.
“On arrival they found the 17-year-old victim lying on the ground bleeding from his head. The victim who sustained a gunshot wound to his head died on the scene due to the extent of his injuries. Members were also informed that a six-year-old boy sustained a flesh wound to his left foot and transported to a hospital for treatment.
“Murder and attempted murder cases were registered for investigation.”
