[WATCH] Butchered and burnt: Boyfriend held by police after woman’s body is found in a wheelie bin
A woman’s body has been found dismembered and set alight inside a wheelie bin in Paarl.
Police have taken in for questioning the boyfriend of the late Siphokazi Booi of Mbekweni.
The 30-year-old man was due to appear in court in October after he allegedly beat Siphokazi to a pulp last month.
The victim’s aunt Nontando Booi, 43, says the local councillor came to tell her about the body.
“She told me about the burnt body because Siphokazi and her boyfriend were always fighting and she had been in hospital after he assaulted her.
“When the councillor asked me about my niece’s whereabouts, I told her that she went back to the man.
“We asked one of Siphokazi’s friends where she was and she said she last saw her on Friday night while they were all drinking in the suspect’s shack,” says Nontando.
The friends say that the couple had a fight and they left them around 2am on Saturday morning.
“They went back on Saturday afternoon to look for Siphokazi, but she wasn’t around. He told them she left.”
The heartbroken aunt tells the Daily Voice she has not yet seen the burnt remains.

GRUESOME: Councillor Zukiswa Nomana points out where the deceased’s body was found. Video: Ayanda Ndamane
“The police have refused to show us the body and they told us that they need to do a DNA test on her which will cost us R1300 if we want to have her body sooner,” says Nontando.
“I know for a fact that it is her, the suspect has confessed to me and the police (that he killed her) and I believe that there are more suspects who are involved.”
White City Councillor Zukiswa Nomana says angry residents destroyed the man’s shack, where a bloody mattress was found.

“Residents were really angry that time and we tried to calm them down.
“They could have destroyed evidence because of their anger. The suspect’s car was also burnt.”
Luxolo Mvandaba, chairman of the Unmasking Men’s Emotions organisation says they believe the boyfriend killed Siphokasi.
“The suspect had assaulted her just two weeks ago, he had an upcoming court case on 4 October.
“That means the motive for killing this woman is that he didn’t want to appear in court.”
