Christian residents from various areas on the Cape Flats held a prayer walk on Spine Road in Mitchells Plain on Sunday morning.
The members, who hail from various churches, met on the road for the walk, after the government announced South Africans could exercise between 6am and 9am during Level 4 lockdown regulations.
Pastor John Arrison, 57, arranged the walk and says since churches are not allowed to operate under the lockdown, they decided to spread the word of God during their exercise time.

“We are grateful that we as believers from different denominations could come together while doing an exercise walk to pray for our nation and communities,” he says.
“However we did comply with government regulations by wearing a face mask as well gloves with hand sanitiser. We also kept our social distance.
“While we were walking and praying for our government and nation, members of the public drove past us all hooted and were grateful that people were praying and turning to God to save our people from this virus.”
The prayer walkers, including revivalist Robin Webber - who said the initiative is bringing the body of Christ together - sang gospel songs on the corner of Spine Road and Merrydale Avenue.

Pastor Arrison added: “This is not a church movement but an end-time kingdom movement of God standing together in unity.
“We are also preparing for a great harvest of souls to come to Christ during this time so that God can heal our land.
“We as South Africans need to turn back to God and he will heal our land, Amen.
“We will have prayer walks every week from next week Sunday onwards.”
