Gun violence continues to surge on the Cape Flats as videos are surfacing of criminals opening fire during broad daylight.
The recent video was shared widely on Wednesday and shows an unidentified man opening fire between a block of flats in Etosha Court in Hanover Park.
The young man can be seen firing two shots and then another one in the day time without his face covered while a woman can be heard shouting: “You don’t even care about the people” and another woman who is making the video shouts: “Hulle het f*k*l respect nie. Hulle n**iers.”
The man is unbothered about what the women are saying and is seen taking a slight jog before continuing shooting while the women shout: “Maak die video van die n**i.”
When the Daily Voice was in communication with Kashiefa Mohammed, Public Relations Officer for the Hanover Park Community Police Forum, gunshots continued to ring out.
She said: “We’re fully aware of the video and we hope police arrest this guy [because] this is hard core evidence who the shooter is.
“He disrespects our community during the month of Ramadaan. He disrespects our children who have to play. This is an injustice to our community of Hanover Park.”
“We need to be the ears and eyes of the police to combat this gang war in Hanover Park. Only we as a community can do it.”
“We had enough, we are tired of ducking and diving, we need to live a normal life, our kids need to play, gangsters rob our children from being a child. Enough is enough.”
