Former Formula One champion Jacques Villeneuve says Lewis Hamilton acts like he is Jesus and thinks F1 is Hollywood.
Villeneuve was commenting on Hamilton’s emotional celebration of last weekend’s win in the German Grand Prix.
Ahead of the Hungarian GP on Sunday at 3.10pm, Villeneuve says: “He confuses Formula One with Hollywood.
“Everything he does is staged.
“He portrays himself on social media like he is Jesus.
“The way he knelt next to his car after his problem in qualifying [in Germany] looked like the suffering of Christ.
“And what he said afterwards was the Sermon on the Mount.
“Then he gestured so dramatically on the podium that everyone could see who sent the sudden rain.”
Hamilton, meanwhile, heads into the Hungarian Grand Prix with a 17-point lead after Sebastian Vettel crashed out to help Hamilton win from 14th place in Germany.
The Hungarian Grand Prix will be the 12th race of the F1 calendar.
Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen finished one and two respectively in 2017, with Hamilton finishing fourth after surrendering his podium finish to Valtteri Bottas.
