Cape Town City want to hit the ground running when the PSL resumes next weekend.
League chairman Irvin Khoza on Monday announced that the campaign will be completed, with the action kicking off on the weekend of August 8.
City have been pro- active during the Covid-19 pandemic, with the players' remote training being monitored with GPS tracking systems.
The Citizens were also the first PSL club to go back to training after getting their Hartleyvale base up to protocol in anticipation of government permission.
They have also had a clean bill of health, with no positive Covid-19 cases reported.
City chairman John Comitis tells the Daily Voice: “We’ve been prepared for this so it’s a long time coming, so we are very grateful.”
Comitis adds that it’s great news for football in Mzansi, with clubs feeling the financial strain.
The former Ajax Cape Town chairman says: “We are very excited that we will be returning to the playing field.
“And I think under the circumstances and the many uncertainties in the whole world, that you know you have a date to resume football, especially the current season.
“Playing to its completion is the fairest way to decide promotion and relegation and I’m glad the decision was made in unison.
“So we look forward to the return.”
City will resume the season in 10th place, four points clear of the relegation zone and four outside the Top 8, and will have take all their enthusiasm onto the pitch to change their fortunes.
