One of the two women injured in the fire at Amdenhof flats in Bellville has died, while the other female patient is in a stable condition.
The two women had jumped out of a third storey window.
One of the women had her baby in her arms, which was caught by a bystander below.
An eight-year-old boy died after the fire broke out at the building on the corner of Barnard and Voortrekker roads in Bellville on Monday.
Both women and a man were rushed to Tygerberg Hospital in critical condition after suffering severe burn wounds, smoke inhalation and poly trauma.

“Sadly, one of the female patients passed away (on Tuesday) night due to the extent of her injuries after numerous medical interventions proved unsuccessful,” said a spokesperson from Tygerberg Hospital.
The hospital said the mother and baby have since been discharged.
