A young man from Mitchells Plain was gunned down on Friday morning, allegedly after he refused to become a gangster.
The unidentified man, believed to be in his early twenties, was on his way home after working a night shift and was shot in the head by two unknown suspects on Eisleben Road in Lentegeur.
“He was not a gangster, just a really nice person who worked hard for his family. They just ran up to him and shot him, like it was nothing,” a witness who knows the victim tells the Daily Voice.
“This is a busy main road, but they just got away. Children were walking to school, but hulle worry nie.”
Another friend says the victim had refused to join a gang and had been threatened.
“He may not have been a perfect person, but we suspect they killed him because he did not want to become a Fancy Boy. He was told to join and he refused.
“They told him they were going to kill him. His life taken for what?” the person says.
The man’s father was at the crime scene, but did not want to comment.
