If you believe there’s some truth to the saying, “good things come to those who wait,” then you’re bound to respect the hustle that it took to take the fliek, Zulu Wedding, from script to screen.
It was due to debut three years ago, but fans wag vir jare al, as the release date was postponed twice.
Apparently they didn’t have enough kroon to finish production. That’s until Capitec gave them what some would call a bailout.
The cash injection allowed the director, Lineo Sekeloane, to complete the vision she has been working on since 2008. And after much anticipation, the South African rom-com is set for release ( alweer) on Friday.
In the fliek, SA-born Lu leaves the country to pursue her dream of becoming a dancer in America. She gets more than what she bargained for when she catches feelings for a handsome young man, named Tex, who wants to put a ring on it.
The only snag is that Lu is already promised to a member of the Zulu royal family.
She now has to choose between two countries, two men and two families. She can only do this once she learns who she is, and fights for what she wants.
