The Battle rounds kicked off on The Voice SA on Sunday night and two Cape Town contestants powered through to the Live rounds, while another local who was in the Danger Zone made a triumphant return.
In the Battle rounds, the show’s four coaches - Riky Rick, Riana Nel, LIRA and Francois van Coke - are forced to pit members of their own teams against each other singing the same song.
The winner of this vocal showdown then proceeds to the next round during which the voting public have all the say.
Mitchells Plain mom of two, Krista Jonas, 29, was the first to make it through.
In her first Battle of the night, LIRA pitched Krista against fellow Capey Petro de Villiers, 36, with Irene Cara’s hit Fame.
Krista said: “I was not too thrilled about the song choice to be honest. Going up against Petro was a bit intimidating because she is a powerhouse.”
In #TeamRiky Rick, Amy Tjasink, 26, beat Joshua Parker, 19, from Johannesburg, when they performed the Marshmello hit Happier.

“I felt extremely anxious going up against such a young and inspiring talent as him, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Singing with Josh was amazing,” said Amy.
Meanwhile, Ashur Petersen was voted back into the competition by viewers.
“I honestly have no words. I am overwhelmed, grateful and completely dizzy by everyone’s support,” Ashur said.
In the end, the epic Battles were won by Krista, Amy, Daniel Jay, Lelo Ramisong and Yahto Kraft.
They will continue their Voice SA journey at the Live rounds, to be held at the Mosaik Teatro in Joburg.
The Voice SA airs on M-Net 101 every Sunday at 5.30pm.
