Maitland Flying Squad detained four suspects on various charges.
Police members of Maitland Flying Squad responded to information and tactically approached an address in 20th Avenue in Kensington. Upon entering the premises, a search ensued which resulted in the recovery of 434 rock lobsters including 3374 Rock Lobster tails.
Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi reports: “They detained a 51-year-old man for the unlawful possession of rock lobsters.”
Kensington police, led by Station Commander Lieutenant-Colonel Nkosinathi Losini, yielded positive results when they seized drugs to the estimated value of about R200 000 last week
Swartbooi adds: “On Wednesday night, they descended on a pre identified address in Rapide Street where they encountered the suspect upon entering the premises.
“The male person became restless in the presence of the police members, giving them even more reason to continue to search the premises thoroughly.
“Their persistence ensured a breakthrough when they recovered a consignment of drugs and a substantial amount of cash hidden in a garage situated on the premises. They detained the adult man for dealing in drugs.
“Once charged the suspect is expected to make a court appearance in the Cape Town Central Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charge.”
