Cops need your help in identifying a man whose skeletal remains were found buried under a building site in New Horizon.
The headless skeleton was discovered on 28 January 2017, while parts of the New Horizon housing development was being built in Peppershrike Road.
Grassy Park Police Station Communications Officer, Captain Wynita Kleinsmith, says the man was dressed in a navy blue tracksuit, brown jacket and black pants.
Police have since done forensic reconstruction of the man’s skull, hoping to identify him.
“On 28 January 2017 at 1pm the Grassy Park police were called out to a scene where the skeleton of a male was found after digging up was done to build new houses in New Horizon,” says Kleinsmith.
“The body of an unknown coloured male was found, believed to be between 25 and 38 years old. Clothing description is that of a navy tracksuit, brown jacket and black pants.”
Cops have since opened an inquest docket into the man’s death.
A few months after the discovery, the man’s head was found near the scene and cops have not concluded cause of death.
They also believe the man may have been living in the bush.
“We are hoping to locate his family or answers about this person,” adds Kleinsmith.
“A few months after the body was found, the head was discovered and we believe the man may have been living in the bush.”
