Two more cop shops on the Cape Flats have been hit with Covid-19 infections.
On Friday, the Community Police Forum (CPF) was called to Philippi SAPS when unhappy officers alleged they were not informed of a positive case in their station.
CPF chairperson Ebrahiem Abrahams says officers called them for assistance as tempers flared.
He says concerned cops raised their objections after the station’s management allegedly took four days to inform them there was a positive case at the station.

In addition they claim that the station was not professionally decontaminated but instead the regular cleaner sanitised the community service centre (CSC).
“We were worried because they were still allowing the public into the building and putting them at risk,” says Abrahams.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa says the station was closed and the CSC relocated for the decontamination process.
“An external service provider was brought in to undertake the decontamination of the facility.
“The station has since returned to the station building.
“There is no basis to the claim that a cleaner had undertaken the decontamination process as the service provider brought its own personnel who were in the company’s branded clothing.”
On Saturday, a notice was placed on the gate at Manenberg Police Station indicating the building was under quarantine.
Potelwa confirms the CSC at this station was also relocated to a mobile unit outside the facility and the decontamination done by an external service provider.
“Upon completion of the process they declared the facility safe for
occupation.”
