UCT Tigers proved that their rise in the Western Province Super League A this season is no fluke by beating UniMil 38-22 last weekend.
The win kept the Tigers at the top of the competition’s log after winning six out of their seven games.
With the likes of No.8 Nyasha Tarusenga running the show for the students, they knew they had a fight on their hands when they lined up to play against UniMil.
It was set up to be a true test of their title credentials this year, having narrowly lost to defending champions Maties the week before.
But despite UniMil flyhalf Elgar Watts and his team giving their all, Ikeys bagged a full house of log points, proving without a doubt that they are back in business.

With seven matches played, more than any other team, the students can enjoy an extended break before only returning to action at the end of July when they will face fellow Tiere, Tygerberg.
Coach Christiaan Esterhuizen and his team know that they will be overtaken at the top of the log before then, but will enter the break confident of having set up a solid foundation for a strong finish to their campaign.
UniMil are one of the teams that will be looking to make up for some lost ground.
But with no games being played this week, they will have to wait for next week when they host Durbell.
The only other Super League A fixture that took place this past weekend saw NTK host UWC in Paarl.

And if Ikeys are looking like a powerhouse, then you can’t throw away UWC in terms of most improved teams.
It looks like the Varsity Cup has done the Bellville students the world of good as they currently occupy second place on the log, having beaten Parow 33-16 away from home.
