The Stormers’ injury curse struck again in their 39-37 win over the Lions at Ellis Park last weekend.
With first-choice flyhalf Kade Wolhuter already ruled out for the season after suffering a season-ending knee injury against the Bulls in their first match of Rainbow Cup SA, his replacement Abner van Reenen also left the field in agony on Saturday after injuring his shoulder.

Coach John Dobson said after the game: “He had a sore shoulder last week and it got worse in this game – it was a medical call [to take him off]. We are not sure how serious it is yet.”
Luckily for the Capetonians, Tim Swiel is fit again and took the field to hit the winning penalty goal in the match.
Swiel will in all likelihood start at No.10 when the Stormers travel to Durban where they’ll face a hurting Sharks team after their 43-9 annihilation suffered at the hands of the Bulls last weekend.
Of the upcoming clash, Dobson adds: “It has been three Saturdays of absolute agony after the hooter, so we need to get better.
“I think what we have proven over the last three weeks is that we are a team that can compete with the best in this competition, so we have just got to try and get as many wins on the road as we can.”
