The Black Ties are dusting off their suits and getting ready to jam with Tevin Campbell.
The Cape Town trio have just been announced as the opening act for Tevin, who will be performing at Grandwest next Friday.
Trio Chad Saaiman, Keeno Lee and Lloyd Jansen say they are excited to be working with the American RnB singer again.
It’s almost exactly three years ago that they toured with him when he came to SA in 2013.
And the three of them are huge fans of Tevin as he provided the soundtrack to their turbulent teenage years.
Chad says: “From back in the day my favourite Tevin Campbell song would be Tomorrow.”
And then he starts singing: “Tomorrow will be - better you, better me.”

Romantic Lloyd pipes up: “ Can We Talk is my favourite song. I remember buying the album at Dions in Maynard Mall back in 1995, just because that song was on it.”
Now the guys are once again sharing a stage with Tevin, “a musical dream come true” for them.
The Black Ties say they will perform classics from the likes of Stevie Wonder and Lionel Richie songs, to hits by Bruno Mars and Daft Punk.
Chad says there’s something extra special in store as well.
“I’ll be performing a few of my own songs, maybe three or four tracks before Black Ties come onto stage,” he says.
And because they have worked with Tevin before they “kind of know” his style - which is laidback and lekker.
“He’s not a diva. Backstage he’s cool and calm,” says Chad.
“He has a publicist by his side who’s worked with Roberta Flack, Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson and I think that guy keeps him calm as well,” he adds.
The Black Ties will only be opening for Tevin’s Cape Town show, so make sure you don’t miss out on this special treat for Kaap fans.
