Police have recovered a body of one of the four youngsters who was killed and drowned in an alleged mob justice incident last week.
Asonele Wanga, 15, the youngest of the group, was found with a wire around his wrist in a river that runs through Mfuleni.
His mom Sindiswa tells the Daily Voice her only son had head wounds from the assault.
Asonele and his friends, Yonela Mdladlama, 22, Sabelo Rasameni, 21, and Maphelo Mazamisa, 23, were accused of breaking into a house on Saturday, 4 September.
They were assaulted, murdered and then thrown into the river that runs along Covid-19 informal settlement.
The cops had been searching for the bodies since last week and found the two bodies of unknown men, which is now under investigation as well.
Sindiswa says she was in church praying for her son when she got the news yesterday.
“We were at the spiritual healer, we received a call that a corpse was found and we had to identify it. I was so relieved when I found out that it was my son, now we can sleep, and also we can bury him.
“We were told that there was another body which was floating next to him but it went down the stream, hopefully the other bodies will be found too.”
Police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa confirmed police divers retrieved the body of the 15-year-old.
