Western Cape Government Health urged people 60 years or older to only visit a Covid-19 vaccine site once they receive an SMS and unique code confirming the date and time of their appointment. To receive an appointment, a resident will need to register on the Electronic Vaccination Data System (EVDS).
You will receive a second SMS two to three weeks later with the details of where you can be vaccinated, as well as a unique code that you must take with you to the vaccination site.
“Vaccination sites can currently not accommodate walk-ins and we ask that you remain patient as we implement the vaccination plan for people 60 years and older,” the department said.
Register for the jab on the WhatsApp line 0600 123 456 or via the Covid-19 hotline 0800 029 999.
